This resource is designed to provide pupils with an introduction to landscape transformation through time. It focuses on how specialists can study the evolution of Prehistoric landscapes through time and how they are able to understand what an area looked like in the past. Pupils will be introduced to the concept of interdependency between nature and humans. They will be shown how humans both influence and are influenced by their surroundings.
The resource also provides students with a table describing key-concepts about the social and cultural traits of Prehistoric communities. All of these concepts are explained using a local case-study, Bouldnor Cliff, a submerged Mesolithic settlement located near Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.
