The Maritime Archaeology Trust and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

On 25th May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came in to force across the European Union.

About the GDPR

The Maritime Archaeology Trust (MAT) hold a limited amount of personal data relating to individuals involved with and/or interested in the work of our organisation.

In April 2018, the MAT undertook an assessment to determine if Legitimate Interests (as set out on the GDPR) is appropriate lawful grounds for processing in relation to MAT’s Newsletter list (Mailchimp) for electronic communication with individuals. Completion of the Legitimate Interests Assessment (LIA) Template provided by the Data Protection Network (November 2017) clarified that it was entirely appropriate for the MAT to process data in this way based on Legitimate Interests. Further information can be found here.

You can sign-up to our Newsletter here and unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the link in every message sent by us.

MAT Volunteers, Friends, Members, Trustees and Patrons are being contacted separately about GDPR as we hold further contact details for them on our database.
