JNAPC was formed in 1988 from individuals and representatives of institutions who wished to raise awareness of the UK’s underwater cultural heritage and to persuade government that underwater sites of historic importance should receive no less protection than those on land. The JNAPC membership is made up of individuals and representatives of institutions who wish to raise awareness of underwater cultural heritage. Since 1989 the JNAPC has published reports and proposals for the better management and protection of underwater cultural heritage
